Call for Entries to BIBF Ananas Illustration Exhibition & Awards


Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF)

22-26 August, 2018 | Beijing, China


The BIBF Ananas Illustration Exhibition is going to be held concurrently with Beijing International Book Fair(BIBF), from August 22nd to 26th 2018 in Beijing, China. The exhibition will cover an area of 400 square meters and bring together several program including Illustrators Club, Editors Meeting and activities, giving professionals of illustration and publication an excellent opportunity to establish cooperation or deepen contacts.


Last year, the organizing committee received 2524 titles of works, 411 titles of works have been selected to exhibit at BIBF and printed in the Catalogue. Eyeballs from publishing houses, media, exhibitors and visitors from home and abroad have been attracted.


If you are looking for cooperation with international publishers, or you want to attract overseas media attention, then don’t miss this opportunity. You will also get a chance to win prize money and a paid trip to the Beijing International Book Fair!

Ananas Grand Prix – one winner among the finalists

- An invitation to the 2019 Beijing International Book Fair, including economy class air tickets and accommodation fully covered by the organizers; Alternatively, you can choose to claim a prize money 10,000RMB.

- A trophy and a certificate


Grand Jury Prize - three winners among the finalists

- Prize money 5,000RMB each and certificate


New Talent Prize – five winners among the finalists

- Prize money 2,000RMB each and certificate


Finalists Prize – unlimited number

All the finalists’ illustrations will be showcased at the 2018 BIBF Ananas Illustration Exhibition and presented in the 2018 Ananas Catalogue



a. What Can be Entered

- Entered illustrations can be published or unpublished. If published, the illustrations must not have been published before 1 January 2016.

- There are no specific restrictions regarding the topic of the series or the techniques used to complete the illustrations.

- The entrant must submit five illustrations belonging to the same series, each entrant may submit up to ten series in total.

- No illustrations submitted in a previous edition can be re-entered.

- Submitted illustrations must meet the standard as following.

1) Format: JPG or PSD

2) Color Mode: CMYK

3) Resolution: 300 DPI or above

4) For hand drawing work, the entrant should provide the electronic version of your work.


b. Who Can Take Part

- Illustrators from all nationalities over 18 years old are eligible to take part in the contest.

- Entries can be made as an individual, school, association or other third-party organization.


c. Submission Procedure

- Please send your illustrations to bibf@ananasillustration.com as attachments or through WeTransfer (https://www.wetransfer.com/)

- Together with the illustrations, please send the application form at the same time. It could be  downloaded on BIBF website: http://www.bibf.net/EN/NewsInfo.aspx?NID=24&PID=2

- For both email topic or works file names, please state key information well. Suggested model as category_entrant name_country. e.g.: Picture Book _James Bond_UK


d. Judging Process

All entries complying with the eligibility criteria will be reviewed by jury of international illustrators, publishers and picture book specialists with the schedule as below.

Entry submission: 15 May – 1 July 2018

First round selection: 15 July – 1 August 2018

Shortlist announcement: 15 August 2018

Awards announcement: 22 August 2018 (the opening day of the BIBF)

- Picture Book Category: Illustrations drawing for children’s picture books.

- Illustration Category: Illustrations drawing for magazines & newspapers, brochure, poster, book/CD cover, advertising and packaging.

The entrant represents and warrants that the submitted artwork is an original work created by the entrant and own all copyrights related to the submitted artworks. The entrant shall assume all responsibilities and liabilities for any copyright disputes incurred by the submitted artwork. The organizer has all discretion to decide whether a submitted artwork should be selected for exhibition, awarded, or cancelled for exhibition.

The entrant acknowledges and agrees that the BIBF and Ananas Illustration may use the submitted artwork and associated information for public exhibitions, printing, publication (Catalogue only) , production, marketing and promotion.
